Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for details.
An important political figure stated the attack made him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
