19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a former world number one, has had a challenging period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.
The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the top level was over.
But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an better service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour championship, took control to create a third set.
Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
