Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party reach places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
